Stanley S. Levan, 63, of Kearney, Missouri passed away on July 10, 2013 at his home. The family will receive friends from 10-11 am, Monday, July 15, 2013 at Hidden Valley Funeral Home. The memorial service will begin at 11:00 am in the chapel, followed by full military honors. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Liberty Hospital Hospice.
Stan was born on March 31, 1950 in Ava, Illinois, the son of Harrison and Mildred (Budde) Levan. He was raised and graduated Tri County High School in Ava before joining the U.S. Army and serving honorably during the Vietnam War. After his service, he worked at Universal Match and Emerson Electric as a machinist, where he met Norma. They were united in marriage on December 15, 1990 in St. Charles, Missouri. Later, they moved to Springfield, where he was employed at MD Precision. They came to Kearney in 2009 and he began his work as a guard at the Western Missouri State Correctional Facility in Cameron. Stan was a member of E. Howard Porter VFW Post 5717 in Kearney.
He leaves behind his wife and best friend, Norma; daughter, Teona Harris & husband, Brian, of Lathrop, MO; two grandchildren, Derek and David; brother, Chad Levan & wife, Rhonda of Ava, IL and their children, Sydney and Seth as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
