Ruth Louise (Atkins) Rudd, 96, born September 3, 1920, in rural Lawson, Missouri to James Everett “Shorty” and Tommy Fern (Holman) Atkins, departed this life August 31, 2017, at Excelsior Springs Nursing.
On Janury 1, 1942, in Kansas City, Kansas, she was united in marriage to William Paul Rudd. Two daughters, Paula Louise and Myrna Rae, blessed this union.
Ruth was a member of Canaan Hill Church of the Nazarene, where she had attended since age of 2 weeks and accepted Christ as savior as a teenager.
She worked for Nazarene Publishing House, North American Aviation, Kansas Unemployment Compensation and Avsco Plastics.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: William Paul; 4 brothers: JT Atkins, John Atkins, Floyd Atkins, and Marvin Atkins; 1 sister: Reta Rabe; grandson: Aaron Glaser; and a great nephew.
Surviving are her daughters and spouses: Paula and Robert Hampton and Myrna and Tom Glaser; granddaughters: Paulette and Danny Brown of Yukon, OK, and Annette and Todd Brown of Edmond, OK; great-grandchildren: Jordan, Haley, Necea, Chloe, Tucker and Luke; one sister: Donna Smoot of Excelsior Springs; one brother: Allen and Betty Atkins of Lawson, MO; and two sisters-in-law: Barbara Atkins of Lawson, MO, and Jeanine Atkins of Deer Lodge, MT; as well as many nieces and nephews and great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews.
Visitation for Ruth will be 10-11a, Wednesday, September 6, 2017, at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. Funeral Service will follow at 11a. Burial at Old Union Cemetery, Lawson, MO.
