Ruby Jane Holman Marrant, age 77, of Excelsior Springs, MO, passed away February 20, 2017.

Ruby was born November 5, 1939, in Smithville, MO, to the late Ballard (B.T.) Atkins and the late Sylvia Ellen Marie Benjamin Balke Atkins Long. Ruby was the youngest of three siblings and the last of her family, preceded in death by Don Atkins and Will Atkins.

Ruby married Junior Holman at the age of 19. They were blessed with seven children: Sherry Ballinger, Troy Holman (deceased), Tammy Forte, Lanny Holman, Ranny Holman, Willie Holman, and, last but not least, Jowana Marie Dye. Ruby also has left behind 17 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

On October 24, 1981, Ruby was married to Roy Dean Marrant and she shared two step-sons Mike Marrant and Keven Marrant, and three step-grandchildren. She was employed at Whitaker Cable, her title – Shipping and Receiving Clerk. This is where she met Dean. We, her children, would like to thank Dean for all the loving care he has given our mom and our family.

Our mother enjoyed life and gave life to everyone she met. She loved her family, nieces, nephews, and many friends. Our mother was very strong-willed and many drew strength from her and she will be missed. Ruby also enjoyed gardening and flowers, her cup runneth over with her green thumb and caring. She also leaves behind her little doggies Bo Diddley, Snoop Dog, and Muttley Earl.
