Robert E Wilson, Sr, 81, of Rayville, passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016, in North Kansas City, MO.
Visitation will be Monday, October 31, 2016, from 5:30 – 7:00 pm at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs, 5951 MO-10, Excelsior Springs, MO. A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at Old Union Christian Union Cemetery, 17990 N Union Rd, Lawson, MO.
Mr. Wilson was born October 16, 1935, in North Kansas City, MO. He is the son of the late Charles and the late Mable A (Buckley) Wilson. He married Betty Carter on November 21, 1962, in Kansas City, Missouri.
He served in the Army from 09/22/1959 to 09/15/1961. When he returned from his military service Robert was employed by Procter And Gamble as a Machinist until he retired in 1994.
Robert enjoyed nature and being outdoors. He liked collecting guns, particularly military arms, and target shooting. One of his favorite pastimes was watching his grandchildren play sports.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 54 years: Betty (Carter) Wilson, two daughters: Vesta (Wayne) Headd-Glenn of Richmond, MO and Margaret (Jewel) Headd-Holloway of Richmond, MO, and five sons: Thomas Headd of Many, LA, Joe (Patty) Headd of Cedar Rapids, MI, Raymond Headd of Excelsior Springs, MO, Robert (Deanna) Wilson, Jr of Lawson, MO and Charles Wilson of Richmond, MO, and one brother: John Wilson of Cassville, MO. He also has fourteen grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Wilson, grandson, Steven Holloway, granddaughter, Honey Sue Headd, and great-grandchild, Michael Lacore.
