Robert (Bob) Dean Riegel, 92, of Kearney, peacefully passed away Monday, February 17, 2020, in Liberty, MO.

Visitation will be Friday, February 21, 2020, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at Hidden Valley Funeral Home in Kearney, 925 MO-92, Kearney, MO. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Mt. Olivet, Kearney, MO.

Robert was born November 25, 1927, in Cowgill, MO. He is the son of the late Walter Daniel and Orpha Cordelia (O’Dell) Riegel.

Bob married Frances Busick on February 7, 1948. Both were members of the Church of Christ.

He served in the Seventh Air Service Group of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II and was stationed in Japan. After his military service he worked for Swift Meat Packing for a short time before beginning a career of 31 years at Ford Motor Company. He worked at Ford Motor Company, beginning as an assembly line worker and then advanced into supervision retiring in 1981. At Ford he made many of his life-long friends.

Bob loved his family farm and raising angus cattle with his brother, Clay. He and Frances also enjoyed traveling and their home at the Lake of the Ozarks. Bob was a devoted husband, a wonderful father/grandfather/great-grandfather, and loved his friends dearly.

He is survived by two sons, Rick (Geri) of Greensboro, GA, and Ron (Kim) of Kearney, MO; one sister, Reva of Colorado Springs, CO; three granddaughters and their husbands, Ashleigh (Justin) Smith, Lindsey (Ryan Martin), and Kailey (Gunnar) Lovekamp, all of Kearney, along with 9 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 56 years; his brothers Leo and Walter (Clay); sisters Lois and JoAnn; and 2 nephews.
