Richard M Dumas, 90, formerly of Excelsior Springs, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017, at the Country Club Care Center in Warrensburg, MO. He and his wife were over 50-year residents of Excelsior Springs, MO.

Richard was born in Topeka, Kansas, to Emma (Braun) and James Hacker Dumas on February 24, 1926. He was a veteran of WWII and served as a Baptist minister for a few years. Finally, he retired from his job as purchasing agent for TWA in Kansas City, MO. He and Deloris were active at Pisgah Baptist Church for many years. They were also active in Politics and often served as election Judges.

He and Deloris are survived by their four children, Carol and husband Ron Burns of Blue Springs, MO; Rebecca and husband Clyde Burchett of Higginsville, MO; Kay Diemer and husband Jack of Overland Park, KS; and James R Dumas and wife Angela of Independence, MO. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Richard will be 1-2pm, Friday, January 27, 2017, followed by a 2pm funeral, all at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. Inurnment will be on Monday, January 30, 2017, at 1pm at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
