Rex Gray was born February 7, 1937, in Wakenda, MO. He is the son of the late Oma John and the late Olive Mildred (Hardin) Gray. He married Anita Gow on January 14, 1961 in Torrence, California.

Rex lived a life well lived, full of adventure, love, and family. He spent some of his early years as a Navy man on a United States aircraft carrier, the USS Ranger. Rex also obtained his bachelors degree from Cerritos College in Southern California. Anita and Rex both had the same appetite for travel, only encouraging each other for more adventure. Together, they have visited all 50 states. All adventurers must call some place home, and for Rex and Anita, it was 28 years in California and 18 in the state of Washington. After their time on the west coast, they moved back to Excelsior Springs in 2000 to be closer to siblings and other family.

He is survived by his wife: Anita (Gow) Gray, one daughter: Jackie Baker, sister: Arbuta Dace and two brothers: Richard Gray and Richard Gray, two grandchildren: Ashley (Josh) Jiminez and Chance (Lauryn) Baker, and five great grandchildren: Abby Jiminez, Jacob Jiminez, Hanna Jiminez, Everly Jiminez, and Riggins Baker.
