Preston had just turned 22 in April and his life was just beginning. He had already experienced so much and his future was endless with bright possibilities. He was known for his smile, no matter what happened he always had a smile. Preston would give you the shirt off his back. He had a giving personality and was always concerned for others. He had an old soul and could make friends with anyone he came in contact with – it was impossible to dislike him.
Preston loved soccer and #14 was his number all through school. He was a varsity player, but his passion was coaching and helping his little brothers wrestle – taking them all over for national tournaments. He could always be found cheering them on in their corner.
Shortly after graduating high school he joined his dad up in North Dakota where he worked in the oilfield and was given the nickname “Pup” by his co-workers as he was the youngest in the company. They all took care of their little “pup” and watched over him.
Preston only loved one thing more than his girlfriend and that was his big red truck. Big red was his pride and joy. At any time he could be found cleaning and driving his truck.
Preston had just started a new job traveling and working on bridges and on his second day at his new job his life was stolen from him when he was struck by a drunk driver.
He was preceded in death by Karyn Lawson “Nanny” of Plattsburg, Missouri and grandma Linda Brayfield of Excelsior Springs, Missouri.
Survivors include his parents Jason and Stacie Brayfield of Kansas City, siblings; Austin Brayfield (24), Presleigh Brayfield (16), Mason Brayfield (12), Colton Brayfield and Caden Brayfield (11) all of Kansas City, the love of his life, his girlfriend, Brittney, grandparents; John Rickart of Excelsior Springs, Marvin Lawson of Plattsburg, and James Brayfield of Excelsior Springs, one niece, and many other beloved family members and close friends.
Preston will be forever missed and loved more than any words could ever say. We know no greater pain than losing our son.
Until we see you again Red.
