Norma Jean Schmidt, 77, of rural Rayville, MO, went home to be with the Lord, husband Harold Schmidt, and son James Alan Schmidt, Friday, June 3, 2016, at the Excelsior Springs Hospital after having cancer the last 2 years.

Visitation will be 6-8pm, Wednesday, June 8, 2016, at Hidden Valley Funeral Home, Kearney, MO. Funeral service will be 2pm, Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Pisgah Baptist Church. Burial at Crown Hill Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Pisgah Baptist Church.

Norma Jean was born September 29, 1938, in Kansas City, MO. She attended grade school at Munger School in Claycomo, MO, and Brookwood School in NKC, MO. She attended NKC High School until March 1956 and graduated Excelsior Springs High May 1956.

Norma Jean married Harold H. Schmidt on April 26, 1959. She worked at National Bell Hess in NKC, MO, State Farm Insurance Co in Excelsior Springs, MO, Cooper Insurance Company in Liberty, MO, and Excelsior Springs Hospital.

Norma loved being at family reunions, family dinners, picnics, riding her mule and 4 wheelers with the family, and gators. She also enjoyed mowing her own yard last year and keeping it looking nice.

Norma Jean was preceded in death by her husband: Harold Schmidt; son: James Alan Schmidt, age 5; father-in-law: Hubert Schmidt; mother-in-law: Evelyn Schmidt; sister-in-law: Beverly Kissell; father: Norman Y Reynolds; and mother: Ruby Fern Reynolds.

Norma is survived by brother: Robert Reynolds; friend: Fran Arnold; sister: Mary Shea & husband Darrell; brother: Ronnie Reynolds & wife Pat; 8 nieces, 5 nephews, 11 great-nieces, 10 great-nephews, and 2 great-great nieces.
