Melba Joyce (Gray) Rouse, age 92, of Excelsior Springs, passed away on Friday, June 16, 2017.
Visitation will be 11a-12noon, Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the West Tracy Church of Christ, 27404 NE 144th St, Excelsior Springs MO. Funeral Service will follow at noon. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery following the funeral.
Melba was born December 18, 1924, in Carroll County near Wakenda, MO, the fourth child to parents Oma John Gray and Olive Myrtle (Harden) Gray. She married Jesse Elliott and had two sons: Dale Gene Elliott and Stephen Lee Elliott. Later, she married Ernest Rouse on December 25, 1955, who had two sons and one daughter: Ronald Ernest Rouse, Gary Allen Rouse and Sandra Rouse. Ernest preceded her in death.
Melba graduated from Wakenda High School. Her interests were flowers, gardening and family gatherings.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers: William Cleo Gray, Donald Gray, and Trennouth Gray; four sisters: Phyllis Booth, Shirley Lowry, Bonnie Farris, and a baby sister, Iris Gray; and her stepdaughter, Sandra (Rouse) McCoy.
Melba is survived by a sister: Arbuta Dace; and two brothers: Rex Gray, and Richard Gray, all of Excelsior Springs; as well as all four of her sons and step-sons, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family expresses appreciation to Excelsior Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation for the good care she received.
