Mary “Mary Beth” Elizabeth Mallon, 69, of Liberty, MO passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019. Mass will be said 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 25 at Church of The Annunciation, Kearney, MO. Visitation will precede the Mass 10:00-11:00. Burial will be in Muddy Fork Cemetery, Holt, MO.

Mary Beth was born on November 26, 1949 in St. Paul, KS. She is the daughter of the late Herman J. and the late Elizabeth F. (Tastove) VanLeeuwen. She graduated from Emporia State University formally known as Kansas State Teachers College with a teaching degree in Elementary Education. She married James L. Mallon on June 16, 1973 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia, KS.

In 1988, Mary Beth and family moved from Emporia, KS to Liberty, MO. Not long after moving to Liberty, she became a member of the Town and County Garden Club in Liberty where she was a member for 30 years. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved to garden, cook, attend water aerobics, paint, read, put together puzzles, travel, and spend time with her family. She over the years had met and became friends with many people who had stopped by to purchase eggs from her “farm.”

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, James L. Mallon, one daughter: Jennifer Anne (Paul) Galatas her children Grant and Anna, and two sons: Joseph James (MacKenzie) Mallon and his children Peter, Luke, and Mark and David Lawrence (Rachael Wilson) and his children Serenity and Madelynn. One brother: Felix (Wanda) VanLeeuwen and their son Paul.
