Mary J Duncan, 71, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017, in North Kansas City, MO.
Visitation will be Monday, December 4, 2017, from 5:30 – 7:30pm at Hidden Valley Funeral Home Of Excelsior Springs, 5951 MO-10, Excelsior Springs, MO. The funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will be at North New Garden Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, MO, on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 following the funeral service.
Mary was born March 5, 1946, in Excelsior Springs, MO. She is the daughter of the late Morris Monroe and the late Vicki Miller. She married Melvin Duncan in 1975 here in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. Between the two of them they had three children. The two were married for 40 years before Melvin’s passing in 2015.
Mary had many hobbies and interests in life. She loved going to the casino and playing slots, particularly the Ameristar Casino. When at the casino, she could always be found at the Life of Luxury Big Cats slot machine due to her fondness of the feline species. Mary also enjoyed shopping with her daughter Pam, the two were avid bargain shoppers; she was a excellent coupon shopper. Not only did she love to shop, she loved to sell, hosting a semi annual garage sale with her daughter. She was also particularly fond of dining out in the company of her loved ones. Her favorite restaurants include Texas Roadhouse and Joy Wok.
She is survived by one daughter: Pam and Rich Schwenzer and two sons: Gary and Janet Duncan, and Douglas and Kelli Duncan, one sister: Bonnie Donahue and one brother: Donnie Miller. She also has four grandchildren: Logan, Mason, Leighton, and Alexis.
