Joseph Leroy “Roy” Crippen, 64, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in Kansas City, MO.
Visitation will be Friday, May 5, 2017, from 1:30-3:00pm at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. The funeral will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, May 5, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Polley Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, MO.
Joseph was born February 28, 1953, in Liberty, MO. He is the son of the late William Samuel and Martha Nell (Thompson) Crippen. He married Donna Fay Parker on July 31, 1982, in Orrick, Missouri.
He served in the Army. He was employed as a Factory Worker at the Fiskars plant from where he retired after 36 years in September of 2016. Joseph enjoyed being outside and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed walking. His favorite band to listen to during or after his outside activities was Pink Floyd.
He is survived by his wife: Donna Fay (Parker) Crippen; two daughters: Laura Mantlo of Liberty, MO and Lisa Potts of Warrensburg, MO; his mother Martha Nell (Thompson) Crippen; five sisters: Teresa Sutton of Tabor, IA, Nancy Crippen of Excelsior Springs, MO, Billie Nakoneczny of Excelsior Springs, MO, Judy Davenport of Excelsior Springs, MO, and Connie Chapman of Millville, MO, and one brother: Gary Crippen of Grandview, MO; and four grandchildren: Xavier Mantlo of Kearney, MO, Alexis Mantlo of Kearney, MO, Korbin Simmons of Liberty, MO, and Elizabeth Main of Warrensburg, MO. He is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his father William Crippen, Joseph was predeceased by one sister, Mary White.
The funeral will be led by Rev Zephry Bingham. Pallbearers for the funeral will be Jerry Crippen, Joey Crippen, Jason Crippen, Donnie Lightcap, Randy Parker, and John Parker, Jr.
