John Eldon Conyers, 74, passed away early December 26, 2016, at his home.

Visitation will be Monday, January 2, 2016, from 6-7:30pm at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. The funeral will be on Tuesday, January 3, 2016, at 11am at the funeral home. Burial will be at South Point Cemetery, Orrick, Missouri.

John was born July 21, 1942, in Egypt, Missouri. He was the son of Minnie (Teegarden) Conyers and Byron Conyers. John grew up in Orrick, Missouri, and was a graduate of Orrick High School. He then joined the Navy right out of high school and served his country honorably.
On September 4, 1966, he married Elinor “Marie” Burriss. John lived most of his life in Excelsior Springs. He was able to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary in 2016 with many family members and friends.

John loved westerns and war movies, “Top Gun”, playing Yahtzee, and watching football. He enjoyed cheering for his boys at football games. Most recently you would probably hear him shouting at the TV from his recliner while a Chiefs game was on. He was proud to be a Navy Veteran. He always had candy for his grandkids, and an indulgence for ice cream, Honey Nut Cheerios, and Root Beer Barrels.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marie; three sons: Shawn and his wife Belinda, Eric, and Nathan and his wife Susan: six grandchildren: Payton, Madison, Baylinn, Lindy, Quinn, and Jaden; and one brother: Jim Conyers and his wife Margie of Kingwood, Texas. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Eric, Larry, and Gary; and sister Virginia.
