Jason Lee Maxwell, 32, of Kearney, MO, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015. Born March 27, 1982, he was raised in Kearney where he lived his whole life; he graduated from Kearney High School in 2000.  Jason is survived by his parents, Jerry and Carla Maxwell; brother, Justin Maxwell (Monica); sister, Kylee Estes; grandmother, Mary Warren; four nieces, Madison and Marleigh Sailer, Brilynn Estes, and Emersyn Maxwell, all of Kearney; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Jason was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leonard Warren, and grandparents, James “Buck” and Orvella “Myrt” Murphy.

Since a small child, Jason was an avid sports lover. Growing up, Jason was involved in wrestling, football, and baseball. His true passion, however, was baseball. He played all through high school for the Kearney Bulldogs and received a baseball scholarship to play for Benedictine College. After college, Jason continued to play recreational ball. He would never turn down a chance to play.

Jason’s true love though was his four nieces. Jason enjoyed watching them play and often helped his brother, Justin, coach them in basketball, softball, and even football. He loved taking them to the park and never turned down an opportunity to babysit.

Family was the most important thing to Jason. He could make anyone laugh with his great personality and was always there for anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm at Hidden Valley Funeral Home, 925 E State Rt 92, Kearney, MO (816) 903-8888, on Friday, March 20, 2015.

Services will be held at the Providence Baptist Church, 12206 N Stark Ave, Kansas City, MO, 64167, (816) 781-1476, on Saturday, March 21, 2015, at 11 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Kearney High School Baseball team in care of the Kearney Trust Company in Jason’s name.
