James “Jim” Leonard Morrison, Jr., passed away Monday, January 13, 2020, at the age of 71, at his home in Holt, MO.
Family will have an end of life celebration on 4th of July, 2020, at his home 7831 SE Moore Drive, Moose’s favorite holiday.
Jim was born on September 20, 1948, in Waverly, MO. He is the son of the late James Leonard Morrison Sr. & the late Sally Mae (Hemphill) Morrison. He was united into marriage with Holly Richardson, on November 5, 1987.
Jim was raised in Grand Pass, MO, where he attended Santa Fe School. Most people knew him by his nickname, “Moose”, which was given to him during his school years not only because of his sheer size, but also his commanding presence and huge heart. Jim first learned to drive a tractor at age five, and after graduating high school worked alongside his father on the farm. He continued farming until his retirement in 2011. Jim planted a large garden every year, taking great pride in his tomatoes. He was also an honorary Jaycee during the annual Waverly Apple Jubilee. Jim/Moose will be greatly missed by family and friends.
He is survived by a wife: Holly Morrison of the home; four children: Lauri (Darrin) Koger, Jim (Kirsten) Morrison, Melissa Moore, and John Michael (Samantha) Huckaby; six grandchildren: Kyle, Madison (Bryan) Morse, Zachary, Wesley, Kyler, and Kallie; two sisters: Pat (Glen) Lush and Helen Dysart; Mother-In-Law: Evelyn Slavens; brother-in-law: Neil Richardson; sister-in-law: Donna Crawford; several nieces and nephews and one great niece.
Preceded in death by a brother: Howard; and a sister: Jan.
