Jack B. Rice, 88, passed away on January 7, 2019 at his home in Kansas City, Missouri.

Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2019 at Old Union Christian Union Church with funeral to follow at 11 a.m. Burial at Lawson Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to VFW Post 6278 Lawson – New Building Fund, 330 N Pennsylvania Ave, Lawson, MO 64062

Jack was born on January 21, 1930 in Robinette, West Virginia, eldest son of George Washington Rice and Ruth (Steward) Rice.

He served in the US Army/Air Force at the end of WWII in the Occupation of Japan. He was an over-the-road truck driver for most of his career, retiring from Consolidated Freightways. Jack and Millie operated Millie’s Coin Laundry before retiring again to spend twenty-plus years as snowbirds in Harlingen and LaFeira, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Millicent (Bird) Rice, of the home; by sons John Elliot Rice, Oak Grove, California and George Rice, Lawson; by three daughters and their husbands, Helen and Gary Moore, Lawson, Loretta and J. Scott Dungan, Lawson, Debbie and Calvin Wood, Smithville; by two brothers and a sister, Donald Ray Rice, Huntington Beach, California, Bill Rice, Belton, Missouri, and Linda (Rice) Pennington, Platte City, Missouri; and by 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Barbara Jean Rice; two brothers, Ernest Rice and Frank Rice and one sister, Agnes (Rice) Brunty.
