Garry was born in the small town of Moberly, MO, in 1950 to JR & Dorothy M (Truesdell) Richards. He went to Golden Oaks grade school in Kansas City and graduated from North Kansas City High School. Garry joined the U.S. Navy right out of high school. While in the Navy, Garry spent 4 years in Key West, FL, as an Aviation Electronics Technician. His main job was to train F-4 pilots on communication, identification, and navigation equipment. Garry would train pilots on what each switch did and how to properly communicate to different places. While in the Navy, Garry met and married his wife Mandy. After Garry left the Navy he worked at a truck management company for 13 years as a maintenance manager. After that he went to Junior College, and in ’95 he got his BS in Psychology. Garry got licensed as a QMHP (Qualified Mental Health Professional) to be the director of client affairs for Ray County’s chronically mentally ill. His job was to assess how the patients were doing after prescribed dosages of meds were taken. The patients that affected Garry the most were those who were clinically depressed. He really enjoyed the patients who never had a down day. They had a very positive attitude.

Garry was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers.
