Fred W Teegarden, 88, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Monday, June 12, 2017, in Richmond, MO.
A Celebration of Life will be held 5-8 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Living Word Church, 314 Concourse Ave, Excelsior Springs, MO.
Fred was born April 12, 1929, in Kansas City, MO. He is the son of the late Ethal Everett and the late Zelma Jane (McClellen) Teegarden. He married Carol Patty on May 14, 1960, in Jackson County, Missouri.
He served in the Navy from 1951 to 1957. Upon return to civilian life, Fred became a carpenter for Junior King and Roy Marlan focusing on residential construction. Later he joined the team at the Excelsior Springs School District in 1982 from where he retired in 1994.
Fred’s pride and joy was a Model T, that he fully restored. He was a member of the Sons of Thunder Auto Club. He was also an avid music fan and tried to attend every gospel or country music event available. He enjoyed having his children and, later, grandchildren around while working on his cars, attending car shows, or listening to music.
He is survived by his wife: Carol (Patty) Teegarden, two daughters: Lorie Patton, and Suzanne Teegarden-Williams, and one son: Michael Teegarden. He also has seven grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Fred was preceded in death by his brothers, John Teegarden, and Phillip Teegarden.
