Ruth “Granny” Elliott, 94, born March 19, 1924 in Barnsdale, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on September 10, 2018.
She was supported and surrounded by her loving family as the Lord called her home.
She was the last of her 11 brothers and sisters that had proceeded her in death, as well as her son Joseph Allen Elliott, grandson Brandon Wayne Ford, and many close friends.
She is survived by her children, Jerry Elliott (Janet), Cheryl Mick, Robert Elliott, and Connie Waltman (Allan); her grandchildren: Jason Mick, Justin Mick (Jacque), Miranda Trimble (Levi), Alex Waltman (Anna), Travis Ford (Sarah), and Nicholas Elliott; her great-grandchildren who loved and adored her: Jackson, Julianna, Emersyn, Dawsyn, Ruby, Sierra, Logan, Broxton, and Bently; her stepchildren: Lee Elliott and Dale Elliott; and 10 step grandchildren along with many step great-granchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends she called sisters, especially Pearl Crowley.
She was a very loving, caring, and giving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She has worked her entire life from picking cotton at a young age to babysitting, sometimes in the upper counts of 20 kids at a time, to working dietary at Liberty Hospital. She gave her children everything she possibly could, even when she had to go without. She was our rock and the strongest person in the entire world: the one that held our family together in the best of times and the worst. The person that taught us to be honest and work hard for everything you get. She always told us to treat everyone you meet with the utmost respect and be nice even when they aren’t nice to you. The one that has never met a stranger and could make friends with anyone is going to be missed so very much, not only by family but everyone that had the oppotunity to meet our “old Oklahoma Hillbilly”.
God rest her blessed, weary soul.
Visitation will be from 1-2p, Friday, September 14, 2018, at Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. The Funeral will follow at 2p, at the funeral home. Burial at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Celebration of her beautiful life afterwards at her home in Excelsior Springs.
