Burial at Crown Hill Cemetery

Douglas Dean Montgomery, 59, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Tuesday, January 28, 2020, in Liberty, MO.

Visitation will be Thursday, January 30, 2020, from 12:30-1:30 pm at Pisgah Baptist Church, 112 Pisgah Dr, Excelsior Springs, MO. The funeral will follow at 1:30 pm. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Douglas was born March 23, 1960, in Leadville, CO. He is the son of the late John Lee and the late Rosalynd (Booth) Montgomery. Doug grew up in Kewanee, IL, and graduated fromKewanee High School in 1978. He married Rhonda Johnson on March 26, 1983, in Fairfax, Missouri. Doug worked for many, many years for Chuck Anderson Ford, in Excelsior Springs.

Doug was an avid KC Chiefs fan. He loved being outdoors and fishing, camping, and boating. He loved his dog, Baron, with whom he enjoyed walking and hiking around Cooley Lake. Doug loved his family and friends. He was extremely proud of his sons and grandchildren, and loved being a papa.

He is survived by his wife: Rhonda (Johnson) Montgomery; three sons: Kyle Montgomery, Craig (Kathleen) Montgomery, and Chad Montgomery; one sister: Jill (Tom) Bridges; four grandchildren: Haylee, Micah, Abigail, and Jameson; many nieces and nephews; and life-long friend: Rod Helm.

In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his sister, Christina Dee Montgomery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for Douglas’s medical bills.
