Donald Lee Van Hooser, 85, of Orrick, died Saturday, November 11, 2017, at North Kansas City Hospital.
Don was born September 10, 1932, to Oscar and Montie (Jobe) Van Hooser in Eldon, Missouri, where he spent most of his early years.
On June 20, 1956, he was married to Norma Jean Baker who preceded him in death February 19, 2001. Don and Jean had lived most of their lives together in the Orrick, Missouri area where he still resided at the time of his death.
Don was a retired hydraulic mechanic from TWA where he had worked for many years.
Survivors include: his second wife, Jeannine, of the home; one son, Gary Van Hooser of Lawson, Missouri, one daughter, Debbie Freeman of Cameron, Missouri, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two step-daughters, Crystal and Tina, and one step-son, Donnie, four step-grandchildren, and one step-great grandchild.
Don was preceded in death by his first wife, Norman Jean (Baker) Van Hooser; four brothers, Tipton Van Hooser, Orville “Shorty” Van Hooser, Chum Van Hooser, and Doral Van Hooser; five sisters, Amy McKinley, Edna Wrye, Bonnie Campbell, Opal Wood and Helen McDonald; and one great-granddaughter, Haven Mae Carroll.
Visitation will be held from 5pm until 7pm, Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Hidden Valley Funeral Homes in Kearney, Missouri.
Funeral Services will be held at 2pm, Friday, November 17, 2017 at Hidden Valley Funeral Homes in Kearney, Missouri with grave side services following at Elmira Cemetery.
