Deborah (Debbie) Leann Carpenter, 54, of Excelsior Springs, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020, at home in Excelsior Springs.

Debbie was born February 5, 1966, in Kansas City, MO. She is the daughter of the late Edward Lewis and Sandra Joann (Brenner) Edmunds. She married Randy Carpenter on February 6, 1988 in Excelsior Springs, Missouri.

Debbie was a serious Kansas City Chiefs fan and was elated when the Chiefs won the Superbowl. She loved the Kansas City Royals as well. She enjoyed NASCAR and was a huge Jeff Gordon fan; upon his retirement, she enjoyed watching a little less. Her family remembers her lesson of being a hard worker; Debbie loved keeping busy. As her children were growing up, Debbie enjoyed working as a Lunch Lady in the Excelsior Springs School District, moving to the different schools as her children progressed. She also loved working at Valley Manor Nursing Home in Excelsior Springs; she loved all the residents and the people with whom she worked. Debbie was a very social lady and always wanted to make sure the people around her were having a good time. Debbie loved her family and especially loved her granddaughter.

She is survived by her husband: Randy Carpenter; one daughter: Misty Lynn Carpenter; and five sons: Andrew Blaine Carpenter, Aaron Edward Carpenter, Austin Haley Carpenter, Christopher Allen Carpenter and David Kyle Carpenter; her mother: Sandra Joann (Brenner) Edmunds; one sister: Pamela Admire; one brother: Lewis Edmunds; best friend and sister-in-law: Regina Gail Carpenter; and one grandchild: Lucianna Skye Carpenter.

In addition to her father, Debbie was preceded in death by her brother, Jeffrey Edmunds.
