Cheryl Elaine Pyle Ivy, 69, of Kansas City, Missouri, went to Heaven on Friday, January 16, 2015, at St. Luke’s Northland Hospital. She was born February 17, 1945, in Kansas City, Missouri to Albert Pyle and Norma Pyle Stoll. She married Jimmie D. Ivy on March 6, 1965, and he survives.

Also surviving are step-father, Rev. Joseph Roy Stoll, Jr. of Mt. Vernon, MO; brother, Roxy Mize of Maitland, Florida; sister Dixie Mize-Tolbert of Georgetown, Texas; her three children, Eric (Lezlee) Ivy of Parkville, MO; Lara Ivy of Kansas City, MO; Sara (Orrin) Wyldwood of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Cheryl grew up in Kansas City and graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1963. Following graduation, Cheryl attended Central Missouri State in Warrensburg where she met her husband, Jim, while playing bridge. They were married at the Independence Boulevard Christian Church on March 6, 1965. Cheryl and Jim made their home in Holt, MO, for many years. All three children were born in Smithville, MO, and attended Holt and Kearney Schools.

Cheryl worked for the Internal Revenue Service and the Social Security Administration throughout her career. The family made several moves for Jim’s job to Wichita, KS; Atlanta, GA; Dallas, TX; St. Louis, MO; and Chicago, IL. In 2002, Cheryl and Jim returned to Kansas City. Following Cheryl’s retirement from the SSA in 2010, Cheryl and Jim spent their time traveling to visit friends and family around the country, attending her grandchildren’s activities and sporting events, and being involved in her church, Good Shepherd UMC. On November 1, 2014, Cheryl suffered a stroke. She was hospitalized for several weeks, but had begun rehabilitation and therapy. Unfortunately, Cheryl suffered a setback on January 14, 2015, from which she could not recover. God called her to Heaven on January 16, 2015, surrounded by family.

A Visitation will be from 10 am to 11am and the Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31,2015, at Good Shepherd UMC, Kansas City, MO. In lieu of flowers, donations in Cheryl’s name can be made to Good Shepherd United Methodist Church Guatemala Project, 9555 N Oak Trafficway, Kansas City, MO 64155.
