July 14, 1969 - June 13, 2016
Brad McElvain of Holt, MO, passed away on June 13, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Brad was born on July 14, 1969 in Columbia, MO to Kenny and Pam McElvain. Brad was 10 months old when his Dad came home from Vietnam for their first meeting. Brad grew up in Liberal, KS and after graduation attended Kansas State University. He was a proud wildcat!
On January 13, 2001 he married Stacey Mays, and they were blessed with Brad’s two greatest joys, Elliott, 11, and Alex, 9. Brad loved being with his family more than anything else, whether spending time with his immediate family or his extended family; he loved every minute.
Brad worked with the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City, MO as a Computer Analyst, Senior Production Support Analyst. He always enjoyed computers, and as a kid, always had to take things apart and see how they worked. NOW putting them back together was sometimes a different story. Brad was creating computer games and programs on an Apple IIe as a teenager and found his love for computers and electronics.
Brad had an infectious laugh that would make everyone around laugh with him! He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother and friend. Brad loved going on family outings with Stacey, Elliott and Alex to Worlds of Fun, Branson, concerts, and anything else that they liked to do. They all loved watching movies in the theater and at home. Brad was also a huge NASCAR, sports car racing and college sports fan. He also enjoyed photography, and he was the family photographer – that we will all miss! He also enjoyed family reunions to reminisce with all the family members – especially the elders, and he really enjoyed learning the history and genealogy of his families!
Brad is survived by his loving wife Stacey, his sons Elliott and Alex all of the home. He is also survived by his parents, Kenny and Pam McElvain of Liberal, KS; sister Christi and John Nowak of Topeka, KS; exchange brother Ralf and Kathleen Wehner and family of Munich, Germany; exchange parents Gunter and Gerti Wehner of Ennigerloh, Germany; exchange sister Ulrike and Christopher Huelbach and family of Aachen, Germany; exchange sister Camilla and Mikkel Nielson and family of Copenhagen, Denmark.
