I would like to express my deepest sympathy to family and friends. May all your good memories outweigh your sadness during this difficult time. (Isaiah 25:8)

Few people get the opportunity to make a lasting impact on people's lives outside of their own family, except teachers. Teachers make an impact and Francie Lewis was one of those teachers. I was one of her students from grades 5 through 8. I am grateful for the impact she made in my life. I had a chance to visit with her a couple of times at the Excelsior Springs Nursing Home in 2011 when I visited my Mother who was also a resident at the nursing facility. We talked about the book series "Anne of Green Gables" that she read to her classes at the Elmira elementary school. I told her that I had made a trip to Prince Edward Island to visit the location of "Green Gables" in 2004, forty-seven years after she read the series of books to her students. I have to give her credit for instilling in me the love of reading. I remain grateful for those couple of visits and send my sincere condolences to Amy and all of her family.

My mother had six boys and Francie taught all six either at Elmira or Lawson. She was a favorite of many students over the years. What a jewel she was. I know she is happy once again with family and her beloved Eric.

God Bless and Keep My Favorite Teacher, Francie Lewis, for eternity. May she Rest In Peace. I was blessed as a student of Francie for at least 3 years and I have never forgotten the pleasure it was to be in her class where she read stories to us every Friday PM. We appreciated her as our Teacher. Love, Eddie Cathcart

"Momma Lou" as we called her, was my favorite teacher and I took all her classes. She made a lasting impact on me and I'm sure others. As I moved away in the Army, I always kept in touch with her through my parents. I'm sure she will be missed. My wife Lisa is a teacher and I know how hard it can be at times. Mrs. Lewis never gave up on teaching or any student that I'm aware of. She is resting peacefully in Heaven in a sweet spot that she so deserves. She was amazing!!!

I got the pleasure of getting to know Francie through our every Monday visit/hair day.... 10 years of a friendship, im thankful I got to know her. She was a beautiful lady who touched many lives! I always told her she needed to run for president, ive never met such a die hard democrat ,as she would say "yellow dog". She kept up with everyone and everything. She loved her family dearly and will be missed by many. If you ever needed to know anything about Lawson you could ask Francie, She had so many stories she could write a book. Many prayers for her family but I know her heart is happy knowing she is with Eric now!
